Attend this session to learn about the first research study on school librarian impact on student achievement conducted in North Carolina since Burgin and Bracy’s study in 2003. Dr. Lois Wine recently completed her dissertation research which examined the academic impact of North Carolina school librarians on fourth and fifth grade students’ EOG reading and math achievement scores. Her research provides evidence that students in schools with full-time certified school librarians score higher than students in schools without. Learn about her research and how you can use the data to advocate for student access to a school library media center with a full-time certified school library media coordinator with administrators, district-level leadership, and legislators.
