Not many people are aware that shortly after the Boston Tea Party, there was a Tea Party in Edenton. Using Project Based Learning, you can teach your kids about the event and empower them to make changes in their community. I have done this activity with 4th graders, but it will work well with 5th graders too since they study the American Revolution or with any grade to study little known North Carolina history. I will give you a step by step guide to how I presented this to the kids and show pictures from the event. This can easily be adapted to fit in any classroom or library setting and any grade level.
